Hi Todd, Thanks for your helpful email re access to the deeds of York County. Once I grasped the intricacies of the Index etc I found a deed that was of interest and have contacted the Archives in order to obtain a copy - not sure though how that will work from UK. We shall see.... May I ask if, when someone is granted land under the details of a deceased person's will, does this appear in the Grantor/Grantee Lists? Would it appear under the Executor's name or the name of the deceased person do you think? Names of interest are mainly KINDIG / LINEBAUGH and IRWIN / ERWIN. I am working forward on researching. I'd like to find information on Samuel Myers' (Zacharias' father) siblings? And I'll let you know what I come up with. I agree with you on the confusion around my great grandmother E. Dopp Myers given name, and am trying to sort that out. I should have noticed that it was Etta M. in all those places! And, I (very distantly) remember a great aunt referring to her as Etta May. I didn't find her birth certificate in the Wisconsin database online on Ancestry.com, so this morning I wrote to Wisconsin Vital Records, and hopefully will be able to retrieve it. In the many small town Iowa newspaper articles they had about her (in the 1920s and 1930s when news was all about folks visiting one another), she is called Esther. Take care! Thank you so much for all you've done and sent. And, thank you for explaining about Anna Maria Blasser/Myers...sorting these connections out is definitely not my forte at all, so I really appreciate that and the information. Plus, you explain things so they are easy to follow. The Sarah Kunkle/Martha Kinkle mistake came through the Dopp genealogy. I think that my g grandmother (Edith May Dopp Myers--listed in the census material as Etta M. - wife - 48 - married - WI/IN/IA) probably had never met her mother-in-law and gave the Sinnett Manuscript interviewer the wrong information. I remember my own grandfather referencing Kunkle, I believe. With that top entry that you sent, you may have tracked down Charles Myers at age 16. Also missing is his sister, my great aunt Sadie, who I think may be the Sally Myers who is working for the family above the Freeport Zachariah Myers family in the census list. Sadie Scott and family, listed as boarders with the Myers in Sheldon, IA, in 1900, is actually Charles A.'s sister. I remember both Aunt Sadie and g grandma Edith May (who we all called Nano) from when I was a very little girl. I have current Myers (and progeny) detail from George Earl Myers (G. Earl - son - 4/1894 - 6 - IA/US/US) on down if that is of interest to you, although I realize now that you are connected via Anna Maria and Jacob Blasser. Have a happy and safe 4th of July! This is just what I've been looking for...for a long time. You have great talent in using research resources. Did you have to go locally to a courthouse and look this up: Series: M432 Roll: 840 Page: 244, and the other references? Are these tax records or censuses? I can't thank you enough for this! (1) "My" Zacharias Myers married Sarah Kunkle and they are the family that show up in Freeport, IL. I think by the time they surface in 1880 - Harlem, Stephenson Co., IL - 6/2/1880 that Charles A. (then 17 or maybe 18)was out of the home. One of his early jobs was for a farm implement dealer. He didn't marry until 1891, and by then he'd moved to Iowa. He married Edith Mae Dopp. Here are the lines about them in the Dopp family geneaology, the Sinnett Manuscript (http://genforum.genealogy.com/dopp/messages/54.html) where his mother's name is wrong/misspelled. Edith May Dopp Married June 29, 1891 to Charles Alfred Myers, born at York, PA September 26, 1863 Hotel proprietor Sheldon, IA; President of the O'Brien County, IA, County Fair Association; Secretary of Sheldon, IA; Commercial Club. Schools of Freeport, IL. Was an implement dealer, then a traveling salesman, and for several years has been a hotel proprietor...The son of Zaccharias Myers and Martha Kinkle of York, PA and Freeport, IL. (2) My grandfather (George Earl Myers, second son of Charles A.) retold stories his own father (and perhaps also his grandfather) had told of a mill operated by the family in Emigsville, PA, so I think you are right that the Samuel Myers of reference 1850 - Manchester Twp., York Co., PA - 10/3/1850 Myers, Samuel - 47 - miller - $20,000 was Zachariah's father. Did your gggg aunt go by Mary rather than Anna Maria to track with the listing of her beneath Samuel as -- Mary - 44? (3) Do you have the lineage back from Samuel? Again, thank you so much--your research abilities are remarkable and willingness to share is so kind! Best wishes, Mary Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
