Debra, thanks so much for all the info. If this is the same George Cron, the 1860 census age would be off by 10 years and would match the age for the 1850 record you found. Not impossible, so I need to see if I can make sure that is him in the 1850 record. I'm really hopeful that I can find out his mother's maiden name, if Catherine/ Deborah? was his mother. She apparently had some real estate when she died, for which I haven't found a source. Maybe it was some she inherited from her first husband. A $1000 value would have been a good sum for a single female in 1850. Do you know if the PA death records are online anywhere? 'til later, Phyllis On Aug 8, 2010, at 8:40 PM, D. Hi, Phyllis: Heritage Quest Online has him indexed as Coonrod Durfting, but when I look at the image, the letter after the "f" is not crossed. HQO has George's name indexed as George B. Cron. Dr. Hively and to all the others that have posted today...I thank you! Henry Kindig is quite possibly our direct line ancestor and for this reason several of us are interested in knowing more about the cemetery. We are currently looking at deeds and other records of the county. If anyone should run across any further details of the cemetery, such as existence of tombstones, etc. please post to the list. I will make some inquiries to the city and see if they can direct me further. Thank you again for the wonderful response. Sam Silvey

Henry Kindig had a couple of properties in Hellam Township, my survey listings S-253 and S-254, immediately south west of Kreutz Creek Union Church (now Presbyterian), part in Springettsbury Twp, but most in Hellam Township. I have no way of knowing anything about a cemetery - just the location. http://www.paland.us Dr. Neal O. There were many small private cemeteries which were missed in the 1930's when they were transcribed. Chances are it was on Kindig land. If you have an idea where they held land we have an idea where to look. As lands were sold off some cemeteries were simply plowed under, other had their headstones moved to nearby cemeteries. Some where just left to over grow. I live in Wrightsville and would be willing to take a drive to see if I could locate it. I transcribed as many small cemeteries in Hellam, Wrightsville area as I could locate a few years ago without going on private land. In a message dated 8/8/2010 1:02:06 P.M. Eastern Daylight Time, [email protected] writes: I'm seeking information about the Kindig Burial Ground which is located in Hellam Twp. Does anyone know if this cemetery has been photographed, indexed, etc. and if any records exist? I've found very little information other than its existence. Appreciate any information that might be available. Thanks in advance for your help! Mike: I'm the gggg grandson of Israel Peterson through his son Isaac. I believe that Israel is on the 1790 census in Chester Co., PA enumerated as Israil Patterson. Here's the Ancestry.com source reference: Year: 1790; Census Place: Conentry, Chester, Pennsylvania; Roll: M637_8; Page: 67; Image: 280; Family History Library Film: 0568148. In 1800 he was in Cumberland Co., PA and here's the Ancestry.com reference: Year: 1800; Census Place: Dickenson, Cumberland, Pennsylvania; Roll: 38; Page: 112; Image: 119; Family History Library Film: 363341. I have seen on the internet that his wife's maiden name was Kirk but I have not been able to verify that. Israel and Mary had a son named Israel and he named a son John K. Peterson, but I have never been to determine what the "K" stood for. The family moved to Shenandoah County, VA between 1800 and 1810, although I have never been to verify that either Israel or Mary came with their children. On 19 June 1808, their son Israel married Mary Pummell in Shenandoah County, and on 6 January 1810, their son Isaac (my line) married Judith Pummell in Shenandoah County. On 12 April 1819, Isabella married Frederick H. Holtzman in Shenandoah County. There were other children but I will omit them for now. Now to the question as to where Israel Sr. was born. I believe that Israel and Mary Peterson also had a son named John E. who was born in PA 11 December 1803. He lived near Shenandoah County in Warren County, VA about the last 40 years of his life. His death is recorded on the 1880 census mortality schedule for Warren Co., VA and in the space for where his father was born it has "on ocean" which I interpret to mean he was born on board a ship on the way to this county. I look forward to learning your interest in this family and if you descend from Israel and Mary Peterson.
