    1. [PAYork] Jacob Arney
    2. Stan Arney
    3. Brick wall of Jacob Arney Jacob Arney died in Lincoln County, North Carolina, in 1784 Jacob Arney’s will, only mentions his wife, Elizabeth, and children (no specific child). Jacob Arney moved his family, from Pennsylvania to North Carolina in 1767. Jacob Arney’s son, Christian Arney, Sr., was born in York(town), York County, Pennsylvania, in 1750. It’s not believed that Elizabeth was Jacob’s first (or only) wife. The “brick wall” is trying to find information on Jacob Arney, when he lived in Pennsylvania. The Pennsylvania State Archives Series renders no information. Where would you start looking, to try to find information, on Jacob Arney?

Author: BarbaraWisdom58 Surnames: Calhoun/Calhoon, Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.pennsylvania.counties.york/15248.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I have Calhoun/Calhoon ancestors but I am uncertain if they were ever in Pa. My ancestor was William Calhoon, that was brought to America about 1650 as an indentured servant. He had been captured in Scotland by England during a war, brought back to England and then sold and sent to Mass in America. This family is traced to North Carolina and my specific family migrated in the 1800s to Montgomery Co., Ill. and then to Putnam Co., In. before coming into Missouri about 1850 or so. My great grandfather was Pleasant Calhoon and his father was James Calhoon. This family can be traced to match Vice President Calhoun's family in Scotland if you go to 1515, they shared grandparents. However, Vice President Calhoun's family came into America later than ours. I will be glad to share the early information I have if you think it might help. Head of households in the York County census records include Robert, Hugh and Johnson. 1) Robert (b. circa 1765 - d. circa 1820) was married to Anne (1769-1847) 2) Johnson (1791-1858), son of Robert and Anne, married Susan WILSON in 1811 3) Hugh (1789- 1876), possible son of Robert and Anne, married Catherine EBAUGH before 1810. After Catherine's death married Mary BAKER. By the 1830 census, Johnson, Hugh and their families were living in Clay Township, Montgomery County, Ohio. Johnson, Susan and family were in Wabash County, Indiana by mid-1830's. Hugh and some of his family are in Wabash County by 1850. Anne Calhoun died in 1847, Johnson died in 1858 and his wife Susan in 1863, and Hugh in 1876, all in Wabash County. I would be interested in exchanging information with other Calhoun family researchers. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 3. Hello Listers, I recently viewed a microfilm titled 'General Census of Cemeteries of York County, 1932-37' at Family History Library. I found references in the card files of a Kindig Burial Ground in Windsor Twp. Does anyone know of the location of this cemetery and if there is a map showing its location? I was aware of Kindig Burial Ground in Hellam Twp. but this Windsor Twp. location must be different??? Any help or information is appreciated! Sincerely, Sam Silvey

I know that the father George Shambaugh is shown as deserted in Civil War records. I never thought the reason might be because of his son. George, Sr. was trained as a "zeugschmeid", translated to "edged tool maker", in Germany. My Dad said that George helped build the iron-clad Monitor and I've tried for a long time to find if perhaps he was transferred from Baltimore to a factory where it was being built, rather than deserting. Before George,Sr. left for the Civil War he deeded his farm, in trust for his wife Anna Catherine, to a George Miller of N. Codorus Twp. I have always thought this was Anna Catherine's father, but that's another thing I've not been able to prove. Her name was Miller (Mueller) before she married and her father was said to be George Miller(Mueller),the family immigrating from Hesse Darmstadt. Thanks very much for replying to my message and for giving your time and help. I appreciate it! I'll keep hunting.... 1. [PAYork] ISAAC WINCHESTER AND SUSAN BELL WINCHESTER
    2. Dear List I am trying to locate the existence of Isaac Winchester and his wife Susan Bell. They would have lived in Colonial Times. I guestimate Isaac was born 1697 and my have by 1767. Susan may have been a little younger, traditional story has her born on the ship bringing her parents to America. Traditional story does not tell where they lived but they had William, John and maybe Jackie as son. I would hope this list has local genealogy that may have marriage records that early or know the surname for their county. Thanks any information. 2. FredandMaryFrances Powell
    3. I am looking for a York County map dated about 1785 that shows Newberry Township as well as the other townships of the time. I am also looking for downloadable photos showing both York and Beaver County farmlands around 1800-1820; a photo of a farm home of that era would be good to have. Can anyone direct me to sites that above info might be found? I have googled every term I can think of, quite unsuccessfully. TIA Mary Frances
