Who is this David Hailey and William Payne? "Quaker Records in Georgia" Part 1 is Wrightsborough. On page 3-4..." "The Board deferred action on this Petition (desiring to come to Georgia) until the families should actually come into the colony. By February 1751 only Gray, John Young, David Hailey, John Ayers, George Tarr, Joshua Griffee and William Payne had arrived, and on February 27 they presented their petitions for allotments of land; however, only four allotments were made. Edmund Gray was allotted 500 acres in the fork of Savannah River and Little River on Feb 27 (2), and John Young was allotted 200 acres adjoining Gray on December 18 (3). On the latter date, George Tarr and William Payne received allotments for land in the Indian Country, fully 20 miles north of Gray and Young, who were at the extreme northeast frontierline." ------end----------- From: "Randy Haley" <velocity@mediaone.net> To: HALEY-L@rootsweb.com Subject: RE: [HALEY] David Haley Date: Thu, 9 Dec 1999 21:27:14 -0500 I should read before I leap (to conclusions, that is). The following is an excerpt from HR&F Chapter VIII: "At June Court for Halifax in 1756, John Marston had a suit at law versus James Haley, in case. David Haley and William Payne were his securities in case he lost the case." Could this be the same David Hailey and William Payne found 5 years earlier, in the Quaker records that David Payne presented us? Alas, it appears that David Haley Sr. DID find time for adventuring between lawsuits. ______________________________ ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
