Does anyone know if this William PAYNE was in anyway associated with the PAYNEs in the Kershaw Co., SC area in the same time period? It appears that the men in that area fought in some regiments in th Savannah area in the 1760s. I am interested in this particular PAYNE family. Georgia wasn't much of a state in the mid-1700s, merely a strip along the Atlantic compared to now. The PAYNEs I'm interested in are Absalom, Elijah, etc. in the Kershaw Co. (Camden), SC area.
