It is says his father was SAMUEL PAINE, born about 1740, probably Pennsylvania, who died December 26, 1818 in Butler, Penn, He married Mary Stillwell, born before 1747 in Pennsylvania, died after 1813, Preble, Butler, Ohio. These are the children listed: Mariam Born 22 March 1778, possily Bedford Pennsylvania. Died 1858, Brownsville Township, Union, Indiana. Buried Richmond, Wayne Indiana, elkhorn Cemetery, Miriam born about 1776, probably Pennsylvania. Elijah Born about 1785, probably Pennsylvania, Bedford. Died, 1824-26.
