Census there is a listing for Wm. Payne as follows; PAYNE, William P.   - age 25, bn. VA, Both parents bn. WV               - Son I have the McDowell Co. Marriage Record INDEX ONLY - it lists the following; Payne, Wm., age 21, mar. Thressa J. (?Mynes?), age 21 on 15 Jul 1875. Married by A. P. Bruster. Doug's Note; I think Thressa J. surname would be Myers, Marrs or Manus. This index was a WPA project back in the 1940's maybe and type written. You need to write to Welch Courthouse and obtain a marriage license. Most of all, be sure and tell them you need parents of the bride and groom. I don't have access for 1900 McDowell Co. and Tazewell Co. Census but I do think this is same couple that left Wills in Tazewell Co. VA in 1916 and 1922. In the 1st Census of McDowell Co. WV (1860); there is the following listing; Dick's Creek, Page 13, 12 July George W. Payne   - age 42, Farmer, bn. VA - $1500.00 in Real Estate Arminda     "     - age 32,         "   " James A.   "     - age 14,         "   " Alexander   "     - age 10,         "   " Amanda     "     - age 8,         "   " William     "     - age 5,         "   " <<<<<<<< Drake       "     - age 1,         "   " The annotation under this listing says "George W. Payne, Son/o David Payne mar. Armandy Beavers on 12 Mar 1842 in Tazewell Co. VA." The William Pane that mar. Judy Belcher on 28 Oct 1830 in Tazewell Co. VA is a different couple! They appear in the 1850 Mercer Co. VA/WV Census as follows; Family #512 William   Pane, age 46, Farmer, bn. " , age 22, laborer "   " There are several Belcher families living nearby. Marriage Book of Mercer Co. VA, now WV - 1854 to 1863; Oct 26, 1854 - Elbert A. Belcher, age 20, bn. Tazewell Co. VA, son/o Elizabeth married Matilda B. Payne, age 18, bn. Tazewell Co., dau/o William and Judy Payne. In the 1870 Mercer Co. WV Census - Beaverpond Twp. - Page 502 William Payne - age 67.
