My Jesse Payne b: 1808 SC I have no clues about who his family were. I only know he married in Shelby Co TN in 1832 to Louisa McDaniel (b: 1814 Madison Co.,KY). And they ended up in Greene Co.,AR. The McDaniel and Payne family lived in Memphis, shelby co.,TN.. In 1830 in Shelby, TN, the Paynes listed were; H.C. Pain, C.B. Pain and E. Pain. (Eppi Payne?) In 1840 in DeSoto, MS, there was a M. H. Payne, Robert Payne, Elizabeth Payne, C.B Payne, Hiram Payne, H.C. Payne, Melvin Payne, Jordan Payne. Looks to me that everyone moved from Shelby to DeSoto. Jordan Payne from above was married in Shelby, Hyram was married in Shelby, Hamilton C. was married in Shelby, Culbertson B. Payne was married in Shelby. Rural Desoto County in MS would probably necessitate getting married in Shelby (Memphis) though. E. Pain in 1830 (had no wife but looked as if lived with brothers and sisters--two boys 10-15, two girls 5-10) could have been "Eppi". E. Pain was listed on page 16 along with C.B. Pain (E. & CB same ages 20-30). H. C. Pain was listed on page 14 and was 10 to 20 years older. This E. Pain was not in DeSoto, MS in 1840. James W. Payne might have been one of the 10-15 year old boys living in the household. Who moved to Greene Co.,AR w/Jesse??? So I know Jessie was in SC, TN, Ms, and AR for sure; In 1850 Louisa McDaniel Payne and Jesse Payne were living in St. Francis Township of Greene County. At this time their children were: Frances, 1833; Harriet, 1836; Mary Jane, 1838; Susanna, 1839; Milton, 1842; Eliza, 1843;John, 1846; James C., 1848; and Emily, 1850. Frances, the oldest child, was born in Tennessee. Harriet, Mary Jane,Susanna, and Milton were born in Mississippi. Eliza, John, James C., and Emily were born in Arkansas.
