    3. Hello, In a book about the emigration from Flanders during the 16th century "Bannelingen en Vluchtelingen uit Ronse" J.H. Bekouw, Amsterdam 1941, You can find a lot off different Payne, Pain, Paine, Payeth, Pein,... . My special interest goes on page 153 off this book. "Lucas Payne, lynnenwever, father in lawe to the said Mighell (Griffen), Annijs, his daughter, Roger & Lucas his sonnes borne all in Rostar in Flaunders, they pay the said Mighell no rent, because he is his wife's father; they go to the Dutch Church. ..." This Lucas Payne has to be VANPEENE. He's born in Roeselare (Belgium) and died in London 1587. By the way, Ronse isn't the same for Rostar. Rostar must be Roslar (=Roeselare). This Lucas VANPEENE had a lot off children in the area off London. Some off them had the name Payne, Pain, Peene and Peen. None off them were called as VAN PEENE. Maybe someone off the Payne-list has this Lucas Payne as his ancestor. Please, let me know if you are in this case. The index off the said book gives the following names: PAIJNE, PAIJN, PAIN, PAIJEN, PAYER, PAIJNS, PAYETH.
