There is a will for a Phillip Johnston in Shelby Co. Kentucky that was probabted on 17 July 1798. In this will, he gives land in Hardin Co. Ky. to his daughter, Elizabeth Payne. Does anyone know who Elizabeth (Johnston) Paynes husband was. I am descended from Bennet Dixon Payne who was born in Va. and died in Jefferson County Ky. Family stories say that his parents were a George Payne, or Henry Payne, or a Harry Payne that was married to an Elizabeth Johnson. I have been unable to locate any trace of this family. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
