    3. Hi Teri! And thanks for your response. One reason I can't find Amos is that the marriages in Ontario can only be accessed up to 1929 and he arrived in 1930. So I don't know who his children were or whether he even stayed in Canada. He could also still be alive although he would be 89 now. Amos Payne doesn't seem to be a common name in Canada which should help my search but it is common in the USA. At any rate, I know his intention was to settle in Canada. I have had a researcher looking for him and an appeal for information was published in a newspaper but there has been no sign of him. I have a list of about 400 Paynes in Ontario. I plan to write to them gradually. It had occurred to me that if he had sons or daughters he may have named them after his father, brothers and sisters, ie Joseph, Charles, William, Dora and Alice. At any rate, I will hang on to your email in case a Michigan link comes up. You just never know. regards, Shane
