Hello and a happy Sunday to you all ... I came across a huge Payne file on the web which has the closest thing to my FLEMING PAYNE I've seen yet and I need some help. This file is on the descendants of ISAAC PAYNE SR. of Maryland and has this particular FLEMING PAYNE, b. 1801, as the son of THOMAS PAYNE, the grandson of NEHEMIAH PAYNE, and the great-grandson of ISAAC PAYNE. The file states that THOMAS PAYNE was born in 1777 in Hall Co., GA, which, of course, cannot be right because Hall wasn't created until 1818. But if he was born in that area that became Hall, would he have been born in Franklin County or in Indian Territory? One of the siblings of this FLEMING PAYNE is said to be a JAMES T. PAYNE who married in 1826 in Hall Co., so it appears that was the area the family was in. The birth places of Fleming's siblings seem to indicate that the family may have moved to SC by 1807 but came back to Hall Co. as indicated by the above marriage. The file also has some of these Paynes moving to Paulding County, GA which is right next to Carroll County where my Paynes eventually settled. I know there is a FLEMING PAYNE in the Hall County census in 1830 and 1840 and I'm trying to connect a FLEMING PAYNE in Monroe Co., TN in 1850 and Whitfield Co., GA in 1860 (who would have been born abt. 1801-1802 and said he was born in GA) to this earlier Fleming. The FLEMING PAYNE in Monroe and Whitfield was married to EVALINE ----. I realize information on the net is not always accurate, but this at least seems to point me in the right direction. Siblings of this FLEMING PAYNE b. 1801 and who appeared to be in the Hall Co. area are: James. T. Payne m. Elizabeth Lampkin in 1826 in Hall Co. Others Yea Payne (I have no idea what this means) Thomas J. Payne, b. 1807 in SC L.W. Payne b. 1808 Female Payne b. 1811 Charles Patrick Payne b. 1812, d. 1881 William Payne, b. 1815 Female Payne 2, b. 1816 Unfortunately, this file has no more on this Fleming Payne, no marriage, children etc. Is anyone out there connected to this family or can anyone give me any further information? I would really appreciate any help. And to the person who contributed this file, Joe Payne, thank you so very much for the lead. Judy
