    3. I am looking for biographical or anecdotal information pertaining to George Payne who was born 1819 in Plymouth, Maine. He enlisted in the United States Regular Army, serving during the Seminole and Mexican Wars. At the event of the Civil War, he enlisted as Sergeant, September 24, 1861, in the 11th Regiment of Maine Volunteer Infantry. He was wounded several times while in the service. First, he was severely wounded in the right arm on August 14, 1864 at the battle of Deep Bottom, Virginia. he was wounded another time, this time being very severely wounded in the throat on October 13, 1864 at the battle of Darbytown Road, Virginia. He was then wounded again this time only slightly on April 2, 1865 while leading a charge on Fort Gregg, Virginia. He was married to Margaret Damon on August 8, 1851. They divorced on January 21, 1871. They had no children. He was then married, February 17, 1871, to Miss Vesta A. <unknown>. They had five children; Fetnair, Lillie, Martin, Millie and George J. Jr., . He died in East Newport, Maine on December 3, 1882. He is buried in Sawyer Cemetery in Plymouth, Maine. Anybody have a link or any information?
