Hi y'all, I went to Scottish Highland Games at Stone Mountain, GA this weekend and found an unusual name of PAGAN, PAIN there in a book. I also saw teeshirts with that name on it too. I always understand that our name Payne, Pain, Paine, and other various spellings came from the name PAGAN. It looks like the name PAGAN was our name in early Scotland????? Has anyone done much research in that area? I read somewhere that our family "PAGAN" was outside the city raising crops and taking care of the Royal animals but they wouldn't be part of their religion so that was how the name PAGAN is now used in a bad way???? ===== Thanks, David S.
