    2. Anyone doing research on Archy Payne who was married to Martha Dandridge (born in 1748)? Archy was the son of John Payne from "White Hall" located by the Staunton River in Campbell County, Virginia near Brookneal. Martha was the eldest child of Nathaniel West Dandridge and his wife Dorothea Spotswood (daughter of Gov. Alexander Spotswood). The eight children of Archy and Martha: a. Anne Spotswood Payne (b. 1772) married Thomas M. Fleming. b. Martha Payne (b. 1773) married Jeremiah Strother. c. Archer Payne (b. 1775), DSP. d. Dorothea Dandridge Payne (b. 1777) married Edward Bolling. e. Jane Payne married (1) Robert Bolling, (2) James B. Ferguson. f. Alexander Spotswood Payne (b. 1780) married Charlotte Bryce. g. Catherine Payne married Archibald Bolling. h. John Robert Dandridge Payne married Susan Bryce. Martha had a sister Dorothea Dandridge who married Patrick Henry as his second wife, the first being Sarah Shelton. Their four children were named: a. Dorothea Spotswood Henry. b. Sarah Butler Henry e. Martha Campbell Henry. f. Patrick Henry. Note: Dorothea Spotswood Henry was born at "Red Hill" (near "White Hall" described above) at the home of her father 02 Aug 1778. She married George D. Winston and died in Memphis, TN., 17 Jun 1854, according to the inscription on a memorial erected by the Commodore Perry Chapter of the D.A.R. of Memphis in October 1907.
