The name Eleazer rang a bell with me since my Paynes from Washington Co., TN are descended from George Payne and Rachel Cowgill, and Eleazer is a common given name among the Cowgills. This family is Quaker. I don't see the name Eleazer among the descendants of George and Rachel given by Jesse Payne (1779-1865) at age 81--which document arrived in the mail today.
