My GGrandfather James W. Payne of Hopkins Co. Ky. was raised by Moses Payne and Elizabeth Rose, he first appears in 1850 Hopkins Co. census at 11 yrs. old. in Moses household. it was rumored that his parents were killed and his death certificate list his father as Dayton Payne and mother unk. Does any one have a Dayton Payne that would have died between 1840 and 1850. Thanks, Lewis
