I am searching for descendants of Thomas W. Payne, 1865-1951 GA>AR to determine if he is the son of Carrie Ann Paine (nee Brewer), my great-grandaunt. Carrie Ann and son Thomas W. Paine were living in Pulaski County AR next door to her brother John Adam Brewer in the 1870 census. Family stories have Carrie Ann re-marrying and moving to a part of AR north of Pulaski County. From the 1900, 1910 & 1920 AR Census, all in Pope County, Freeman TWP, I have concluded that the Thomas W. Payne as listed most likely is the son of Carrie Ann. The spelling of Paine without the 'y', as shown in the 1870 census, may be an enumerator's error or maybe changed by Thomas. Carrie Ann lived near her son in the early 1900's but not knowing her married name I have not found her in any census. Thomas was married to Elizabeth Freeman (1865 - 1945) in 1883. Thomas died in El Reno, OK January 18, 1951 while enroute to CA. Funeral home records for Thomas list Sanford Payne, Eugene, OR as surviving son with three surviving daughters (1) Mrs. Florence Cooper (Florence Payne), Clear Lake, WA (2) Mrs. Cliff Nutt (Maude Payne), Oakland CA and (3) Mrs George W. Huff (Ellina Payne), Russellville, AR. Ten grandchildren and 23 g-grandchildren were indicated also. Thomas is buried in the Oak Grove Cemetery about 18 miles north of Dover, AR. I will appreciate hearing from a descendant or from anyone who might have information about Thomas. John Brewer jfbrewer52@msn.com Researching BREWER, BRADFORD, THOMASON, REEVES, VAUGHAN
