Good morning folks; I just recieved this web site of The Official Federal Land Patent Records Site-- http://www.glorecords.blm.gov It has some Paynes in Ohio who purchased land in the early 1800's ( thats the only state I've checked You can search for any state and county . I've found out if you search for the surname in the state you want you recieve a more complete list. Good luck in you search.
