Seeking information - Joseph Payne/Paine born Rensselaer County, New York about August 1788. Married Phebe Palmer, oldest daughter of Fenner Palmer and his first wife Elizabeth Hoag. I believe Joseph to be the son of Smith Payne and Lydia Brockway but lack a source of dedicated proof. Joseph and Phebe lived Rensselaer County, N.Y., Wayne County N. Y. and later moved to West Barre, Orleans County, N. Y. where Phebe died on November 26, 1860. Joseph died February 27, 1867 at Lockport, Niagara County, New York. They had the following children: Cornelius, married Cornelia Seely; Jane, married Maurice Carpenter; Smith Payne; Elizabeth, married a Huyck; Mary Frances, married Grinnell; George; Cyrus; and Thomas Fenner.
