The former descend from John Payne (d. 1689/90) of Westmoreland Co., and the latter from Ralph Payne, of Middlesex. The two families were neighbors and had been associated in several ways, but no records have firmly established a relationship between them. Stay tuned though. Hopefully, the results from our DNA testing [due any day now] will have an answer for us!
