    3. Hi Dustin, and Mamie, and List! In reviewing your posting, Dustin, I'm afraid you may be correct that I have the same information as you. At first I thought you might be descended from Enos Charles Payne, but he was one of the sons of Jessie Benjamin and you indicate you are descended from a brother of Jessie Benjamin. I have the family tree starting with John F. put together by Perry (my great uncle) and Bernice Payne. Is this what you have? If not I would like to trade information. I think the post from Mamie Tate is your best bet. I need to communicate again with her, myself... By the way, there seems to be a discrepancy about the birth dates and ages of Mamie's John F. Pain(e) and Eavy (Eren?) C. Mart(a)in, and my John F. Payne and Eva C. Martin. We need to be careful! Maybe Eva and Eren were sisters? One batch of numbers I have shows that John F. was born in 1834 and Eva in 1825. Mamie's information is (I think) that John F. was 22 and Eavy was 21 when they were married in 1848. I think that's a problem in spite of the names being (almost) right. There were several John F's about that time. I don't know what information you have gotten from Mamie or what you already have. Maybe you can shed some light on this for me. Mamie, could you help out here too? I never was able to make firm contact with the genealogical society that you said had this information. Thanks, Robert Payne FYI here is one of my old posts to clarify the discussion: Start of clip: Here is what I have on John F. Payne and Eva C. Martin: He and Eva were both born in TN (I don't have the county, but I might be able to find out from a great aunt). He was born in 1834, she in 1825. I don't know John F's date of death, but Eva died in 1908. They are both buried in Concord Cemetery near Licking, Missouri as are their son Jesse Benjamin and his wife Frances C. (Thornton). John F. and Eva had at least eight children. Besides Jesse (my great, great grandfather), the only other name I have is Charles. Apparently my great uncle, who put together the information I have, was in touch with Charles' descendants. Other information about John F.: At age 30 he enlisted in the 48th. Regt. Missouri Inf. Vols. on Aug. 16, 1864 at Salem, Missouri. He was a 1st Corporal in Company D, under Captain Kennemore. He mustered in on Sept. 16, 1864 at Rolla, Missouri, and mustered out March 23, 1865. Records of the descendants of his son Charles indicate that John F. was a preacher and played violin and trumpet (for what that information may be worth). I have information on Jesse Benjamin (12-10-1854) and his descendants, but I guess that's too "current" for anyone to be interested in! End of clip.
