    1. ELIZABETH "BETSY" PAYN(E) GUDGEL
    2. Linda Gudgel Finnell
    3. I am searching for information on my elusive ancestor, Elizabeth "Betsy" PAYN(E) GUDGEL, b. October 3, 1763 (maybe in PA or KY), d. December 2, 1823 Gibson Co., IN, buried Gudgel Family Cemetery, Owingsville, Gibson Co., IN. Elizabeth is said to have been a widow with young children when she married the second time to Andrew GUDGEL/GUDSHALL October 5, 1793 in Woodford Co., KY. The original marriage bond in Woodford Co. spells Elizabeth's name as PAYN. Andrew and Elizabeth left KY about 1810 and settled in Indiana Territory (later Knox Co., then Gibson Co.). He had children and so did she and they all went to Indina together. There were 3 children born in KY of this marriage also. Questions: Who was the PAYN(E) husband of her first marriage ? It is said her maiden name was PAUL but I have not found any evidence to document that. What became of her PAYN(E) children in Indiana? Any leads or comments would be appreciated. Linda GUDGEL FINNELL Woodford Co., KY

    3. If you list some names and dates, I think you might get more responses or at least others would stop and look through your list. As for myself, I really don't know where my Paynes came from before 1830 (Indiana). I would be interested in seeing your findings but please give some detail to compare. You probably have found many first and last name matches but birth, marriage, and death dates really help pinpoint if it's a match. Hope to hear from you soon.
