Its rare and unusual. I will rarely send any warnings to any of my 26 lists, but this one seems important to pass along right now. We've had a large number of folks subscribe and they may be new to the world of computerized genealogy research. There is a web site (www.FamilyDiscovery.com) who is pirating work from other "Free" genealogy resources and selling it. Most of what you will find around the Internet is "Free" and if you're being charged to see it, then you're being taken advantage of. There are only a few exceptions. Ancestry.Com and "MyFamily.Com". Even they will not charge an excessive amount. So in summation, be careful. If you are being charged to view anything at RootsWeb, question it. It may be pirated. The best place to ask questions and learn about things like this is a list made especially for those new to the computerized world of genealogy research. That is Gen Newbie. This is a very high volume list. Be prepared to have a full mail box every day. This is in regard to a post by Michelle on the 1st of Feb. Yes, I am researching Payne's from TN who went to AR. Here is what I have so far: Boswell Blackburn Payne b. 1812-1815 Rutherford Co. TN then was supposedly raised in Madison Co. His father was James Payne who d. in 1827 and his mother Permelia Ann Hitchcock. She died in 1828. Boswell married Nancy Nettles b. 1817 in Franklin Co., TN in 1836 in Dyer Co., TN. They had a daughter Elizabeth and a son Thomas Jefferson born in TN and then the family migrated to Greene (now Clay) Co., AR (northeast section of state). This is where they put down their roots and raised their family. They are buried in Mitchell Cemetery in Greenway, Clay, AR. They were 7 other children born to Boswell and Nancy. John Henry Payne one of their sons left AR and went to CA where he died in 1942. Any help on this line would be extremely welcome. I am at a dead end. I have a tremendous amount of information from AR forward but almost nothing on the family (either side) in TN. Darlene Jackson Hofer in TX
