Beginning with Isaac ALLERTON, Jr., (son of Isaac ALLERTON, Sr. and Feare BREWSTER,) who married as his 1st wife, Elizabeth WILLOUGHBY, (daughter of Thomas WILLOUGHBY,) and Isaac ALLERTON, Jr. then married as his 2nd wife Mrs. Elizabeth THOROUGHGOOD/THOROWGOOD (OVERZEE) (COLCLOUGH,) who was the widow of 1st husband, Simon OVERZEE, who died in 1660, and then she was the widow of her 2nd husband, (Major) George COLCLOUGH, who died in 1662. I would imagine that (Major) George COLCLOUGH is from the COLCLOUGH family that married into the PARTRIDGE? and/or RIVETT? family of my 8th great grandmother, Amy/Amee/Aimee PARTRIDGE?/RIVETT? who was born: abt./aft. 1640, possibly in London, England, and married (Colonel) Alexander DONIPHAN, born: abt. 1640 in Plymouth, Devonshire, England, (parents: ??,) and they were the parents of my 7th great grandmother, Amy DONIPHAN, born: abt. 1662, who married as her 1st husband, (Captain) John KELLY, born: abt. 1660, (son of Penelope ? and Matthew KELLY.) After (Captain) John KELLY's death, his wife, Mrs. Amy DONIPHAN (KELLY) married her 2nd husband, Edward RANSDELL. The aforementioned (Captain) Alexander DONIPHAN and his 1st wife, Amy PARTRIDGE?/RIVETT? were the ancestral grandparents of (Colonel) William Barrett TRAVIS and (Captain) Alexander DONIPHAN and his 2nd wife, Margaret MOTT(E) were the ancestral grandparents of (President) Harry S. TRUMAN. And the 3rd wife of (Captain) Alexander DONIPHAN was Susannah ? (Captain) John KELLY and wife, Amy DONIPHAN, were the parents of my 6th great grandmother, Ann KELLY, born: abt. 1696 in VA, died: 1734/1735, who married my 6th great grandfather, William JENNINGS, Jr., born: bet. 1695-1700 in VA, possibly Sittenburne Parish, Rappahannock Co., VA, died: 1733 in Richmond Co., VA, and he was the son of William JENNINGS, Sr., born: abt. 1668 in Sittenburne Parish, Rappahannock Co., VA, died: in Lunenberg Parish, Richmond Co., VA, (son of Margaret PAYNE, (daughter of John PAYNE, born: abt. 1615 in England, immigrant to Old Rappahannock Co., VA, whose wife is thought by many to be Margaret ROBINSON, (daughter of Richard ROBINSON, early 1600's Tidewater immigrant,) and 1st husband, John JENNINGS, born: abt. 1633 in England, (immigrant to Old Rappahannock Co., VA from England,) and Mary WILLOUGHBY, born: abt. 1670 in ?, (parents: ??). I am interested in how Mary WILLOUGHBY was, most likely, related to the aforementioned Elizabeth WILLOUGHBY and her father, Thomas WILLOUGHBY. Elizabeth WILLOUGHBY married Isaac ALLERTON, Jr. before 1652. With Mary WILLOUGHBY being born in abt. 1670 it is quite possible that she was a child of a brother of Elizabeth and a son of Thomas WILLOUGHBY. Returning to the aforementioned Ann KELLY who married William JENNINGS, Jr., their son, Edward Salley JENNINGS, born: 1720 in Richmond Co., VA, (my 5th great grandfather,) is thought to have married a woman named Sarah MOORE. They were the parents of John JENNINGS, (RS,) born: abt. 1748 in Richmond Co., VA, who married Rachel JORDAN, born: abt. 1750, (parents: ??, thought to be descended from the JORDAN's, (and possibly BAILEY's,) of JORDAN'S JOURNEY family group,) and they were the parents of my 3rd great grandfather who was Bailey JENNINGS, born: abt. 1789 in VA, who married his 1st wife, Kitty EARLE, born: abt. 1795, and they married on 22 Dec 1811 in Christian County, Kentucky which later became Caldwell County, KY. Kitty EARLE was the daughter of Tabitha WILLIAMS, born: 1766 in North Farnham Parish, Richmond Co., VA, and was the daughter of Catherine "Caty" ?, (parents: ??,) and her husband, George WILLIAMS, (2nd son named George of his parents, both born to two different WILLIAMS lines in 1600's VA, his mother: Ann WILLIAMS is from the BILLINGTON - WILLIAMS lineage and his father: Roger WILLIAMS is from the PEMBERTON - WILLIAMS through Sydrach WILLIAMS, brother of (Rev./Gov.) Roger WILLIAMS, founder of Rhode Island. Kitty EARLE's father and Tabitha WILLIAMS' husband was Samuel EARLE, IV, (Sgt./Rev. PERKINS and there were many other Samuel EARLE descendants as well.) (Major) Samuel EARLE, III was the son of Phillis BENNETT, (daughter of John BENNETT,) and Samuel EARLE, II, (son of Bridget HALE, (daughter of Thomas HALE/HAYLES,) and Samuel EARLE, I, (son of Mary SYMONDS/SYMONS and (Sir) John EARLE.) Phillis BENNETT's mother or stepmother was Matilda ALLERTON who appears to have been a daughter of Isaac ALLERTON, Jr. and his 2nd wife, Elizabeth THOROUGHGOOD/THOROWGOOD but I am still trying to find more information. Matilda ALLERTON married 1st husband, Samuel EARLE, I as his 2nd wife after the death of his 1st wife, Bridget HALE, and Mrs. Matilda ALLERTON (EARLE) was the stepmother of Samuel EARLE, II. Then after the death of Samuel EARLE, I, Mrs. Matilda ALLERTON (EARLE) married her 2nd husband, William RUST, (and they are related to my LAMKIN and COX lineage from which I descend through George LAMKIN and Hannah COX, (whose 2nd husband was Samuel DEMOURVILLE and also related to my PAYNE lineage of John PAYNE mentioned earlier,) and then after his death, Mrs. Matilda ALLERTON (EARLE) (RUST) married her 3rd husband, John BENNETT, (father of Phillis BENNETT,) and she became either the stepmother of or was the mother of Phillis BENNETT who married Matilda's stepson, Samuel EARLE, II. Whew! And regarding the aforementioned Kitty EARLE and Bailey JENNINGS, they were the parents of my 2nd great grandmother, Sarah "Sally" JENNINGS, born: 1821/22 in Covington, MS, who married as the 3rd wife of Jeremiah "Jerry" PARKER, born: 1795 in Maryland, (parents: ??,) and they were the parents of my great grandfather, Spencer B. PARKER, born: 1859, who married my great grandmother, Rachael Moranda LEWIS, (aka COLEMAN,) who married Wesley BRIGHT as her 1st or 2nd husband, and she was born abt. 1851 in Jones Co., MS, and she was the daughter of John LEWIS, born: abt. 1820 in Jones Co., MS, (son of Howell LEWIS, born: bet. 1782 - 1788 in Granville Co., NC, and his wife, Nancy COPELAND, (daughter of Rachael TUCKER and Ripley COPELAND.) 2. Hello, Those of you researching (Captain) Daniel TUCKER and HARRINGTON/HERRINGTON researchers have probably already seen this file below but just in case........ in the following LANDOWNERS OF BERMUDA FROM 1600'S several references to (Captain) Daniel TUCKER and, also, the page begins with reference to: Hamilton alias Harrington tribe Shares 1. Ja. Lord Marq. Hammilton 6 Perhaps this might lend some clues to some of the missing HARRINGTON/ aka HERRINGTON information, if, indeed, it is cloaked in alias of HAMMILTON. I don't know......first time I have this particular type of reference. Other names that I research which are also in this file are: PAYNE WEST NICHOLS PIERCE LEWES EDWARDS and connecting names of BARRON ETHERIDGE Landowners of Bermuda from map c.1622http://www.hunimex.com/tree/bermuda.html Bellinda Myrick - Barnett BandB4951@aol.com

    2. I am looking for information on my great grandfather, William Thomas Payne, born 27 Jan 1863. I do not know if he was born in TX or KY, but he supposedly "came from Whitewright, TX" and died in Barren Co., KY on 20 April 1929 He married Mollie E. Simmons, who was born 21 July 1866 (probably in Barren Co, KY) and died 23 Sept 1899 of TB. They had at least the following children: twin boys born 12April1894 on a farm in Temple Hill near Glasgow in Barren Co.,KY- James Rollie (d 9April1938, Louisville,KY at age 44 and worked for the railroad) and Roy Benjamin (d.12June1973, Lexington,KY and i think he was a tobacco auctioneer) Both twins served in WWI with others from Barren Co, in think in France. twin girls Reba and Ruby, now deceased (Reba married a Ford and had at least one child- Marie Ford who married Joe Burns) another daughter, Beulah (1891-1893) another daughter possibly buried in Indiana, and perhaps other children unknown to me. After the death of his wife, Mollie E. Simmons, William Thomas Payne married Nora______. I do not know how many children they had, but i think they had at least one daughter named or called Willie (my father referred to her as "Aunt Willie") who died a couple of years ago in KY i believe. I suspect that William Thomas Payne might have gone to TX from KY and then returned to KY, but i do not know. I am requesting death certificates for William Thomas Payne and his twin sons, James Rollie and Roy Benjamin. Since Mollie E. Simmons died before 1911, there will not be one for her. I am also requesting the social security application for my grandfather's twin, Roy Benjamin Payne, and for a search of SS records for James Rollie Payne, though he died in 1938 at age 44 and I am not sure that there will be any SS records. I am new at this and any information and advice will be most welcome. Patti Ann Payne Lockhart, TX

    3. Thanks, Don, for your efforts on this and for keeping in touch in terms of developments. I imagine or at least hope that this resource will help many of us who have been frustrated in tracing a number of VA Payne family lines. I've been eager to check this material and plan to try to spend a day or two in early August at that library with at least a scan of it. Perhaps others of us can volunteer to help with indexing at some point. I usually don't have much free time with work and other time demands, but the more of us involved it should cut the necessary time/effort of individual volunteers. Steve Payne

    3. To Payne Family researchers: I recently inquired of LDS the status of our pending request they microfilm the Payne Collection at the University of Virginia (UVA). They indicated a field supervisor and a cameraman called on UVA to discuss the project. UVA was very positive about the prospects and LDS is waiting for them to sign an agreement. When signed, the next step is to have the Collections and Development staff pass on it. This staff makes sure they have not already collected the material and that the records to be filmed fit their collections guidelines and profile. The field supervisor believes they do. Next, Management must approve and I am informed they rarely veto a project. The fact that some of us have volunteered to index the Collection is a big plus in our favor I am advised. Filming is expected to be done in late 2001 or early 2002. We expect LDS will give several months notice so as to give our volunteers adequate notice. All for now. Don Payne

    3. Hello. I'm looking for informatin on the Payne family in Talbot co. GA. My ancestor is Robert B. Payne (Paine) born about 1822. In 1843 he married Sarah Huff in Talbot Co. GA. I find them next in the 1850 Caddo LA census with their children: Mildred Rebecca Payne born about 1843 F. Payne born about 1846 (female) H.B. Payne born about 1848 (male) Also listed in the household is I.H. Payne born about 1819--listed as overseer. Any information would surely be appreciated. Pauleta Hicks pauleta@comanchetx.com
