Paxton, late of 717 ΒΈ Jewett St. in Canon City and formerly of Westcliffe. Mrs. Paxton died Sunday, Oct 9, 1983 at a Pueblo hospital following a brief illness. She was 76. She was born July 19, 1907 at Delagua, Colo., near Trinidad. Mrs. Paxton had been a resident of Canon City since May, moving there from Westcliffe where she had resided for 51 years. Prior to that, she had lived in Fremont County, having moved there from Trinidad as a young lady. A housewife, Mrs. Paxton had also served as librarian at the Custer County Library in Westcliffe for 32 years. She retired from the post several months ago. She was a member of St. Luke Episcopal Church in Westcliffe. She married Rutherford H. Paxton in Canon City on Aug. 27, 1927. He survives, as do four sons and a daughter, and their spouses: Rupert and Marge Paxton of Cheyenne, Wyo; Robert Paxton of Reno, Nev.;! Clarence and Sharon Paxton of Penrose; Thomas and Darlene Paxton of Canon City; and Ralph and Betty Koch of Westcliffe. Eighteen grandchildren also survive, as do 25 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Oct. 12 at the Florence Mortuary Chapel in Florence with Dr. Wesley Steinmetz officiating. Pallbearers were six of Mrs. Paxton's grandchildren, Clark Koch, Gary Paxton, Doug Paxton, Robert Paxton, Wayne Paxton and Tommy Paxton. Burial was at Union Highland Cemetery at Florence.
