Well I guess we are related then but I am trying to figure out what the relationship is - Great cousins? LOL Your great grandfather was Terry's brother Which one? My paternal great grandmother was Mary McGovern , Terry's sister. She married Daniel Paxton and their children were Samuel and Phillip who I believe was named after one of Mary McGovern's brothers (was he a pugilist also?). Samuel was my paternal grandfather He married Adeline Gull and they had 2 sons , my father Daniel Francis and my uncle William . My father Daniel Francis Paxton married Mary Perrone and they had 7 children (5 girls and 2 boys) of which I am the eldest girl( Age 49). William Paxton married Helen Molloy and they have 1 adopted son Michael. Samuel 's brother Phillip married Louise Vincent and they had 1 child , a daughter named Joan. She married a fellow named Kenneth Dahl and they had 3 sons,whom I have no idea what their names are or where they live. My Aunt Helen (William's wife) gave me the info about Phillip as we were not close to them. ) I had always been told from my dad that it is near impossible to retrieve our family records as they were lost in the Johnstown Flood. Have you been told that as well? It saddens me that when my grandfather was alive I was too young to care about the lineage although I hacve heard about Terrible Terry all my life. It is only recently with my daughter's interest in geneology that we have begun to really try to find some info about the Paxtons and the McGoverns. Any info that you may have would be greatly appreciated. Mary McGovern and Daniel Paxton as well as Samuel and Adeline Paxton and my dad Daniel Francis Paxton are all buried at St. Charles cemetery on Long Island in New York . What part of the country are you from? I anm particularly interested in finding out where in Ireland the McGoverns came from as well as the Paxtons.
