Paxton, 80, of Zanesville, died at 11:35 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26, 2003, at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital. Born Aug. 28, 1923, in Zanesville, he was a lifetime resident of Zanesville and a lifetime farmer, having won many awards for his farming excellence. He was a life member of Timber Run Grange, having belonged for 65 years, a member of Muskingum County Farm Bureau and Old Steam and Gas Club with an interest in antique tractors. He was also a life member of Rolling Plains United Methodist Church. Surviving are two daughters, Connie (Doug) Fink of Zanesville and Christi (Bob) Tumblin of Zanesville; three grandchildren, Ryan and Nick Fink and Brady Tumblin; two stepgrandchildren, Matt and Chris Tumblin; and his dog, Spotty. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles D. and Georgia Hammond Paxton; his wife, Helen E. Paxton, who died in 2000; two sisters, Bernice Butler and Virginia Watters; and a brother, Louis Paxton. Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at William Thompson & Son Funeral Home, 5765 Gladstone Drive, White Cottage. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Brian Law officiating. Burial will be in Zanesville Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Rolling Plains United Methodist Church.
