This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Paxton Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/YZ5.2ACIB/776.2 Message Board Post: Read your email re Thomas Paxton with joy. My grandmother was Adabell C. Paxton, daughter of John Jackson Paxton, son of William Garland Paxton, son of Thomas Paxton and Mary Wilson. I only have the names of and estimated year of birth of Thomas Paxton (born before 1840 and Mary Wilson was born after 1800 but have no further info about them other than their descendants. Son, William Garland (known as W. G.) Paxton was born sometime between 1827 and 1832 (date unable to be confirmed so far) in Tennessee, served in the Civil War from his home in Shelby County, Texas and died in August 1900 in Shelbyville, Shelby County, Texas (he is buried in Fairview Cemetery in Center, Shelby County, Texas); he married Nancy Julina (known as N. J.) Weaver also born about 1827 in Tennessee. They moved to (first) somewhere in Kentucky and (second) to Shelbyville in Shelby County, Texas and had five children: (1) Garland William (G. W.) Paxton born about 1851 in Kentucky; (2) Mary E. Paxt! on born about 1852 in Kentucky; (3) Thomas A. (T. A.) Paxton born about 1855 in Kentucky; (4) John Jackson (John J.) Paxton born June 13, 1856 in Shelby County, Texas and died June 2, 1928 in Houston, Harris County, Texas; and (5) Joseph Paxton born about 1858 in Shelby County, Texas. So far, I have no further information on any of the siblings of John Jackson Paxton except that Thomas married someone named Dorothy A. (?) and had two children, but do have loads of info on John's 2 wives and their descendants. I do believe that your Thomas Paxton/Mary Wilson are the same as mine and hope to obtain further info from you and I will send you what I have on the Paxton family. Let me know whether to email you my Paxton info or whether to mail it. If the info you have is lengthy, you may wish to mail rather than email it to me. Let me know and I will send you my address. You can probably tell that I am somewhat new at this and hope to do better in the future. There is a Paxton descendant who has been researching the Paxton Family since sometime in 1977 and she knows far more than I do. I am getting some info from her.
Do you know if Thomas Paxton had a brother Joseph? On Thomas's marriage bond to Mary Wilson it mentions a Joseph Paxton. The Joseph Paxton I am looking for lived at Carter Co, Tn abt the same time Thomas did. I am trying to make a connection between the two. Thomas and Joseph may have been brothers. Joseph married Lavica Bowers and she was relasted to Mary Wilson. Linda Paxton
