Paxton, 66, of Sedalia, died Sunday, Feb. 22, 2004, at University Hospital in Columbia. He was born July 14, 1937, in Sedalia, a son of Lannie and Lois Savage Paxton. On March 18, 1956, in Sedalia, he was married to Frances Curry Paxton, who survives of the home. Mr. Paxton was a member of the Pentecostal Church. He was a self-employed heavy equipment operator and truck driver. He also owned and operated a used car dealership. He thought of himself as a self-employed entrepreneur. He loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed spending time at the lake in Ivy Bend with his friends. He was known for being kind hearted. He liked horses, horse racing, pony pulling and karaoke. Also surviving are two daughters, Colleen Phillips, of Ivy Bend, and Theresa Stathem, of Sedalia; three brothers, Lloyd Paxton, Earl Paxton and Albert Spellmeyer, all of Sedalia; three sisters, Charlotte Phillips, of Smithton, Ila Adair, of Sedalia, and Ardell Whisenant, of Kansas City; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents; and a sister, Louise Tolliver. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Ewing-Schutte-Semler Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ron Adair officiating. Pallbearers will be Milford Monteer, Mike Bartlett, Alfred Kindle, Jack Morgan, Johnny Baker and Chad Morgan. Honorary pallbearers will be Tim Monteer, B.J. Monteer, Charlie Monteer, William Stathem III, Caleb Stathem, Leah Batman, Angie Hellesvig, Richard Crabtree, Pete Strutton and Jim Shull. Burial will be in Highland Sacred Gardens. Friends may call after 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Ivy Bend First Responders in care of the funeral home.
