Frances was born April 5, 1914 to John Hope and Alice Gay Adams in Scooba, MS. The family moved to Arizona in 1920 so her father could farm cotton. She graduated from Scottsdale High School in 1931, in a class of seven, and from Tempe Normal Teachers College (now ASU) in 1934. She was a teacher in Safford, Globe, Sierra Vista and Scottsdale retiring in 1978. She married Eugene Jack Paxton in 1941 and they had two sons. They enjoyed their retirement years in Camp Verde. She was a devoted wife and mother and embodied the values of hard work, church, charity and family. And she loved to tease. She rejoins her loving husband, Jack, of 53 years and a grandson Michael. Frances is survived by one sister, Mary Alice Hettler, her two sons: Dan (Chris) and Don (Karen), as well as 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Hepler Funeral Home,! 143 Arnold Street, Camp Verde, AZ on Saturday, May 22 at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to St. Mary's Food Bank, 2841 N. 31st Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85009.
