He was born September 7, 1947 in Salt Lake City to Calvin Nilson Paxton and June Meyers Paxton. Graduated from Granger High School. Attended the University of Utah where he was a member of the Men's Chorus, ROTC, and Sigma Chi Fraternity. Doug sang with the Oratorio Society for several years and was a long time member of the Holladay Gun Club. He was a member of the LDS Church and served in the Western Canadian Mission from 1968-70. Retired U.S. Postal Service. What Doug enjoyed most was spending time with his two sons. His hobbies included hunting, caring for pets, listening to good music and entertaining children. Survived by his mother, June, Taylorsville; sons, Ben Eugene (Juli), Baltimore, Maryland, and John Douglas, Sandy; sister-in-law Barbara, Salt Lake City; and Luciano Catarotti (his cat). Preceded in death by his father; brother, Gary; and grandp! arents. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 4th, at 11:00 a.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road. There will be a viewing prior to services from 10-10:45 a.m. Interment, Taylorsville Cemetery. Donations in Doug's memory can be made to the Animal Services Central Shelter, 511 West 3900 South. The family thanks Rocky Mountain Hospice and friends and neighbors for many kindnesses.
