Asheville Citizen-Times Asheville, NC December 30, 2003 Canton - Erma Lee Blankenship Paxton Rolland, 89, died Monday, Dec. 29, 2003, at Silver Bluff Nursing Home in Canton. She was a daughter of the late Dallas and Mary Ella Stiles Blankenship and was also preceded in death by two sisters, Nell Sawyer and Ellen Nobeck and two brothers, J.C. Blankenship and the Rev. Forest Blankenship. Mrs. Rolland was a member of West Canton Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughters, Brenda Hicks and her husband, Frank, of Canton and Sharon Jackson and her husband, Tony, of Monroe, Ga.; son, Gerald Paxton and his wife, Margie, of Hampton, Va.; stepson, Dr. William Rolland and his wife, Joy, of Laurinburg; two sisters, Kathelene Sanford and Lillie Paxton, both of Canton; seven grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren, three great-grandchildren and eight step-great-grandchildren. The funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Canton chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Blankenship officiating. Burial will follow in Blankenship Cemetery in Bryson City. Grandchildren and great-grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the funeral home.
