He was born Aug. 9, 1913, in Toledo, WA. RG was the first of seven born to Richard Glen Paxton Sr. and Hilda (Koski) Paxton. A longtime Lewis County resident, RG enjoyed many outdoor activities, especially fishing the Cowlitz River. He worked for Long Bell at their Ryderwood tree farm, was an independent logging contractor, a distributor of Standard Oil products in western Lewis County, and was a driver for Pacific Sand and Gravel for many years. A forty year member of Masonic Lodge, RG had also been a member of Elks, Eagles, and Teamsters Union. RG married June Crooker Feb. 2, 1936. She preceded him in death in 1980. He was also preceded in death by sisters Laverne Skipper, and Paula Hanson, and a brother Ray Paxton. He married Martha Cothren May 21, 1983. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Richard of Longview, WA, and Kevin of Issaquah, WA, and a stepdaughter, Patty Schoonover of Mossyrock, WA. He is also survived by three brothers, Bob, Garry and Bill, and four grandchildren and on great grandchild. At his request, no service will be held. Arrangements are under the direction of Cattermole Funeral Home in Winlock.
