As a fairly recent subscriber to this list, I have not completely studied all the archives, so I do not know how often it has been mentioned that many Paxson individuals changed their names to Paxton (my 6th great grandfather being one of them). There seem to be two heritage lines: the Quakers from England to PA,VA,NC,SC,TN,OH (my roots). Another line is from the Scotch/Irish directly to VA. Many individuals stated they were Quakers just to get into this country and later disassociated with that religion. Some defied their religion and fought in the Revolutionary War.
