Thanks for the welcome, Wanda. I am new to genealogy and have just started researching my Paxtons. I am trying to fill in my gggparents: My ggfather, Francis PAXTON, was born Feb. 14 1857 in Dunse, Berwick, Scotland. He was the son of James PAXTON, gardener, and Isabella AITKEN, believed married in 1847 in Dunse. (Both James and Isabella were also born in Dunse, according to the 1881 census) Francis married Agnes Whitehead HOWEY in 1879 in Dunse. Francis died shortly after the birth of their 5th child (my gfather), in 1890. Agnes and all 5 children eventually ended up in Canada. Other children of James and Isabella appear to be (from the IGI): James b. 1847, Dunse Robert b. 1848, Dunse Isabella b. 1860, Dunse Andrew b. 1866, Dunse (still living with James & Isabella on the 1881 census) and _possibly_ Eliza, born 1851 in Lanark, perhaps explaining the 9 year gap between Robert and Francis?? If anyone can help me fill in some of the details of James and Isabella, I would really appreciate it. Jill
