I am looking for a Joseph Paxton (b. about 1804) that married a Lavisa Bowers of Carter county TN in about 1827. Joseph married Margaret (Peggy) Barclay. Their daughter, Harriett, was my gggrandmother. Josephs sister, Elizabeth married Samuel Houston and they were the parents of General Sam Houston. Harriett Paxton was born July 10, 1792 in Botecourt, Va. She Married Horatio V. Philpott in Lincoln Co. TN, 1813.. She died in Freestone Co. TX, on Jan. 5, 1856. Being a native of Texas of course I had to foIlow through to discover my kinship with Gen'l Sam. Have considerable info on Harriett Paxton Philpott if any interest.
