Hello......I am finding out a bit about Braddocks Defeat (1755--French and Indian War) and the Whiskey Rebellion (late 1700's) in western PA. Braddocks Army: I have been trying to track down the first names of two GIBSON brothers who were in the Battle near McKeesport, 12 miles above Pittsburgh....known as Braddocks Defeat. "They were said to be the tallest men in Braddocks army." from a family letter dated 1870. These 2 GIBSON brothers were the brothers of Jane GIBSON who married Nathaniel PAXTON (#122, b. 1746, Adams Co., PA.) I am hoping to track down the parents of the GIBSONs from Co. Cavan, Ireland. Whiskey Rebellion, 1795 James GIBSON PAXTON, b. Adams Co., married to Betsy Adair was in the Whiskey Rebellion. "He was 6'4" in height." same reference as above. James was the son of Nathaniel PAXTON (#122) and Jane GIBSON Trying to find out what Militia unit he was in. Any other information would be useful. Sue
