    1. [PAXTON-L] Robbins/Paxton Query
    2. I am repeating a query published many times with no success. Hopefully, help will come forward this time. One of my major genealogical barriers is identifying the parents and siblings of Isabella R. Paxton. Isabella was born 28 February 1781, probably in NC. She married Pliny Robbins March 1801. He was born 9 February 1781, probably in NC. Pliny was in Jackson Co., GA when he was appointed in 1802, by the Governor, an Ensign in the Jackson Co. Militia. He died February 1812 in Elbert Co., GA. Isabella subsequently married John Grant in SC, but he died before the 1820 census when Isabella Grant is shown as head of house hold in Abbeville, Co., SC. She moved back to GA: Hall Co. in 1827 and in De Kalb Co. 1830. At which point we lose track of her. Isabella was my 3rd great grandmother. You would think that with a given name like Pliny, he would be easy to trace. Not so. The Robbins line is deadended there at this time, in spite of much effort. Children by Pliny were Sophia Western Robbins (born in Jackson Co., GA, 1801), who married James Oliver; Caroline Robbins, married Thomas J. Powell; Eveline Robbins, married David Waits; and my g.g.grandfather, Algernon Sydney Robbins, born 1810 in SC, married 1830 Elizabeth Turner, born NC, daughter of James Turner, born SC (this Turner line is also at a dead end). She was the grand daughter of Allen Green. By John Grant, Isabella had one son, David Milton Grant, born about 1818. He married Nancy Waits (daughter of David and Eveline Waits (?). They lived in Georgia until 1851, when they moved to Arkansas. I have carefully read many Paxton messages without getting a clue, in addition to a great deal of research on both names, which , of necessity, was just stabbing in the dark. Progress eludes me on these names. I really need help. Dwight G.Allen 107 Yardley Court Hendersonville, NC 28739-6861 Tel: 828-692-2329 e-mail: [email protected] 23 August 2000

    3. Dwight, I don't have any information on your Isabella Paxton, but I have had email contact with a Bill Grant from NY who is descended from a NC Paxton, I think. I can't find his email address right now, but do you know him? I noticed the Grant connection in your email. If you think there might be a connection, I'll try to find his address and send it to you. Let me know. Willie Beaty, researching: Beaty, Koger, Matthews, Smith, Riley, York, Pyle, Paxton, Stiles, Hembree, and Pharr.
