I have not been able to locate my gr-gr-grandfather, William Paxton, on the 1850 Census in NC or SC. He was born ca 1822 in Mecklenburg County, NC. He served in the Mexican War and was discharged at Jefferson Barracks, Missouri on July 31, 1848. I am wondering if he perhaps stayed in Missouri for awhile before returning to NC. I know he was in NC by Dec, 1851 when my gr-grandfather Green Caldwell Paxton was born. Does anyone have any resource that would show the Paxtons in the 1850 Missouri Census? If so, could you please check for a William Paxton, born ca 1822 in NC? Thanks! Wanda
