Jean: This is what we know about the family: Samuel Paxton, b about 1804-1805, place unknown, married Amy Wilcox 11 Sep 1823 in Franklin Co. OH. Died in Franklin Co OH 1 Sept 1849. James M. Paxton, b abt 1808, possibly KY (he gave that as birthplace on 1860 or 1870 census), married ????, d 1873-ish somewhere in OH (I don't have it on this list & don't have time to dig for the info.) Mary Paxton b 21 Feb 1809, married 1) Benega/Beneger Miles in Franklin Co OH, md 2) Robert Brown. There is also supposedly a John Paxton as a brother, but I have no data on him at all. Father of these children is unknown, but according to marriage records for Samuel, was dead at the time Samuel applied for his marriage license. Mother's name may be Nancy, maiden name unknown. In 1827 a Nancy Paxton married Preserved Leonard in Franklin Co. OH. The 1830 census lists her as a 50-60 year old male (I've heard of a boy named Sue, but never a Nancy). I'm crossing my fingers that you might have a clue for us. My cousins & I have been hunting for this family for more than 20 years.
