Paxton Jeannette K. Paxton, 77, Independence, died Wednesday, March 29, 2000, at the Independence Regional Health Center. Mrs. Paxton was born Sept. 14, 1922, in Kansas City. She married John G. Paxton on Aug. 29, 1941, and lived the remainder of her life in Independence. She graduated from Central High School in 1938, and received her doctor's degree from the Kansas City School of Law in 1958. She practiced law in Independence with her husband in the firm of Paxton & Paxton until her retirement in 1993. She had served as executive secretary of the Eastern Jackson County Bar Association for 28 years. Her survivors include her husband, John G. Paxton of the home; her children, Judith Paxton Rea, Kansas City, and Meredith Paxton Griffith, San Antonio; and three grandchildren, John Paxton Mendell, Wichita, Kan., Donald Bryan Mendell, Lewisville, Texas, and Fairlee Mendell Marth, San Antonio. She is also survived by sons-in-law, Loren G. Rea, Buzz Griffith and Tom Mendell. Memorial services will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Speaks Suburban Chapel, Independence. Friends may call from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the First Presbyterian Church, 100 N. Pleasant, Independence, Mo. 64050.
