Paxton (Patti Garrett), 45, died at Highland Hospital on Tuesday, April 11, 2000. Visitation will be held at Osborn Funeral Home, 3631 Southern Avenue, on Thursday, April 13, from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. A memorial service for Patti will be held at Grace Community Church, 9400 Ellerbe Road, on Friday, April 14, beginning at 6:30 p.m., Rob Weber officiating. Patti, a native of Midland, TX, has been a resident of Shreveport for the past fifteen years. She was a 1977 graduate of the University of Texas-Austin with a major in interior design in recent years she did graduate work and served as an instructor in art at LSUS. Patti also was a member of the Shreveport Medical Soceity Alliance and the Hoover Watercolor Society. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Geoffrey Garrett, and their three sons, Andrew, James and Michael Garrett. She is also survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John W. Paxton. Other survivors include her sister, Laura Walton and husband, Dale Walton, and her brother John C. Paxton and wife, Laura Paxton. Surviving nieces are Amanda Wilson Duke, Kelli Walton and Caroline Paxton, as well as a nephew, William Paxton. Patti's joys in life included her family, her friends and her art. She was a devoted mother, a loving wife and a caring friend. Honorary pallbearers will be our Highland Clinic family and the faculty and staff of LSUS Department of Fine Arts. The family would like to express appreciation to Dr. Robert Massingill and his staff, Dr. Dean Griffen, to the second floor nurses and staff of Highland Hospital, and to Anna Guess, Cathey Sholar and Betsy Hamilton.
