PAXTON Jeannette K. Paxton, 77, of Independence,MO, died Wednesday, March 29, 2000, at the Independence Regional Health Center. Memorial services will be 3 p.m. Saturday, April 1, at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 39th St. at 291 Highway, Independence, MO. Visitation will be from 2-3 p.m. Saturday, at the chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the First Presbyterian Church, 100 N. Pleasant, Independence, MO, 64050. Jeannette was born September 14, 1922, in Kansas City, MO, the only child of Dolly and Ed Kruse. She married John G. Paxton on August 29, 1941, and lived the remainder of her life in Independence. She graduated from Central High School in 1938, and received her Juris Doctor from the Kansas City School of Law in 1958. She practiced law in Independence, with John, in the firm of Paxton & Paxton until her retirement in 1993. Jeannette served as Executive Secretary of the Eastern Jackson County Bar Association for 28 years. Jeannette was the devoted wife of John, who survives her; the loving mother of Judith Paxton Rea of Kansas City, MO, and Meredith Paxton Griffith of San Antonio, TX. She is survived by three grandchildren, John Paxton Mendell of Wichita, KS, Donald Bryan Mendell of Lewisville, TX, and Fairlee Mendell Marth of San Antonio, TX. She is also survived by sons-in-law, Loren G. Rea, Buzz Griffith, and Tom Mendell.
