Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, May 27, 2000 at New Heaven Missionary Baptist Church, G-3184 W. Pierson Rd., Rev. Denzil Green officiating. Burial at Lovedale Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. Saturday until the time of service at the church. She was born February 13, 1909 in Forman, Arkansas, the daughter of Nophlet and Matilda (Polly) (Daniels) Butler. She accepted Christ at the age of 12. Mother Paxton was united in holy matrimony to Deacon John M. Paxton, Sr. on January 6, 1924. Mother Paxton came to Flint in 1953, where she united with the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. C.R. Neal where she served on the Mother's and Mission boards. Mother Paxton was a charter member of the Greater Harvest Baptist Church and the New Life Baptist Tabernacle. She also served on the Great Lakes District Mission and Women's Auxiliary under Dr. Essie Bailey. She was a faithful member of the Galilean Baptist Church with Pastor Denzil Green. Mother Paxton loved to praise and testify about the goodness of the Lord and has shown the love of Christ to everyone. She leaves to celebrate her memory: 3 daughters, Freddie Mae Love, Maybell Love, Rev. and Mrs. John (Julia) Jenkins; 3 sons, Eddie Paxton, Sr., Walter Paxton, Sr., John N. Paxton of Battle Creek, MI; 38 grandchildren; 138 great- grandchildren; 75 great- great-grandchildren; sister, Alice Butler; special cousins, J.S. Hubbard, Maurice and Emmet Peters of Flint, MI, Mr. and Mrs. John (Matilda) Bennett of St. Louis, MO; special "adopted" children, Dr. and Mrs. W.G. Terry, Rev. and Mrs. Nathaniel Calhoun, Rev. and Mrs. Roosevelt Deloach, and Grace Johnson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Deacon John M. Paxton, Sr.; 2 sons, Nathaniel and John Jr.; 1 daughter, Carrie; son-in-law, Rev. John D. Love, Sr.; 3 grandsons; 1 great- grandson. Special thanks to Rev. D. Green, Galilean Baptist Church; Dr. F.S.
