Paxton, passed away at Christus Schumpert Grace Home Hospice in Shreveport, Louisiana on Saturday, May 13, 2000. Billie was a resident of Shreveport since 1974. Billie was a devoted wife, mother, "Granny", and friend. Her life centered around her family, her church family at John Calvin Presbyterian Church, and her friends. Billie was an eye donor. Mrs. Paxton was preceded in death by her daughter Patti Paxton Garrett, parents Georgia and William Huffstetler, sister Zora Rozzman, brothers Joe C. Davis and Reed W. Davis. Survivors include a loving and devoted husband, John William "Jack" Paxton, her children Lauri Walton and husband Dale of Keithville, John Paxton and wife Laura of Germantown, TN, son-in-law Geoffrey Garrett of Shreveport, and grandchildren, Amanda Duke, Kelli Walton, Andrew Garrett, James Garrett, Michael Garrett, William Paxton, and Caroline Paxton. She is also survived by her twin sister, Betty Jo Samberson and husband J.L., sister Quincy Wells and husband James, brother, Garland Davis and wife Jannell, and sisters-in-law, Maxine Davis and Christine Davis. Funeral service will be held at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home on Monday, May 15, 2000 at 4:00 p.m. with Reverend Arthur Vance of John Calvin Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. Honorary pallbearers will be members and friends of John Calvin Presbyterian Church. A special thanks is extended to Dr. Alan Grosbach, Dr. Laura Campbell, Dr. Michael Durci, the nursing staff at Christus Schumpert Cancer Center, Oncology Unit, and the loving staff and volunteers at the Grace Home Hospice. The family wishes to thank Jean and Janet Huff, Joyce and Lee Mudd, Art and Mertia Vance, and the host of other people who gave their love and support. Our appreciation for the kindness and generosity that has been extended to our family during this time knows no words. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that contributions be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital in Memphis, Tennesse or the charity of choice.
