He was preceded in death by his wife, Alberta Truman Paxton. He was a member of Andrews Chapel Church and was a retired dispatcher from the City of Roanoke. He served as an Army Staff Sergeant during World War II and was awarded the American Theater Campaign Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the American Defense Service Medal, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Service Star and the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Campaign Medal with two Bronze Service Stars. Surviving are one brother, Felisogo Paxton of Lynchburg; several nieces and nephews. Services will be at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel 11 a.m. Friday, May 12, 2000 with Dr. Robert Wayne officiating. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Belmont Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday.
