JOHNATHON4 PAXTON (SAMUAL3, SAMUAL2, JAMES1) was born 1777, and died 1852. He married AGNESS GILMORE February 05, 1799 in Rockbridge County, Virginia, daughter of WILLIAM GILMORE. She was born 1784, and died 1852. Notes for JOHNATHON PAXTON: Their arrival, in 1818, from Rockbridge County, Virginia, to Israel Township was followed by Nancy's parents, William and Martha Lackey Gilmore, most of the nine Gilmore children, Sarah Paxton Whiteman, and Samuel Paxton IV, each with families. All Paxtons were born in Pennsylvania. In 1819, Jonathan bought two farms in the northeast and southeast section 20 on Four Mile Creek In 1852, Jonathan and Nancy died in a typhoid epidemic, along with two live-in grandsons, and three daughters (Martha Gilmore, Rachel Magaw and Nancy McQuiston, leaving twenty-three young children). Most of the Paxtons stayed in the Israel Township area and are buried in Hopewell Cemetery.
