Hi, my name is Tracy. I am actually doing work for my ex's line for my son. I always get so excited when I find new info, and then I have to remind myself, that this is for my son's family, not mine. But that's ok. I love doing geneology. I loved my ex father-in-law (Harold). As I have learned about the Paxton's and the Allred's, it's helped me learn and understand why he was the incredible man that he was. I want to do this work for my son (Paul), so he can know about his family. If anyone has any info on this line, it would be greatly appreciated. The area's that I have questions on the most are....Mary McClendon and John R Paxton; Benjamin Paxton and Margaret Taylor. I don't have much on them. James Paxton 1640 Scotland + Unknown Samuel Sr Paxton 1670 Ireland + Agnes Samuel B Jr Paxton 1705 Ireland + Esther Benjamin Paxton 1753 PA + Margaret Taylor John R Paxton 1776 NC + Mary McClendon Benjamin R Paxton 1802 SC + Frances Loftin Ann Paxton 1834 Brookhaven MS + Bartlett Smith Benjamin Paxton Smith 1871 MS + Alice Allred Harold W Smith 1918 MS + Tressie Powell Victor P Smith Sr 1956 MS + Tracy Stanzione (that's me) Victor "Paul" Jr 1978 CA Thank you so much for letting me in to the group. If there is anything I can do, please don't hesitate to ask. Have a great week. <smiles> Tracy

He & his younger sister Martha somehow got to the United States sometime before 1848 as he & she were shown on the 1850 New York state census. Great great grandpa Benjamin married date unknown Mary Douglas born August 19, 1826 in Canada. Their first child William Henry Paxton was born July 14, 1848 in New York state. Their 5th child my great grandfather George Benjamin (Barney) Paxton was born October 17, 1856 in the vicinity of Potsdam, St. Lawrence County, New York. He migrated west to Athol, Spink County, South Dakota. He stopped long enough in Illinois to take a bride, Jessie May Spencer who was from Shabbona, Illinois, they married in Waterman, DeKalb County, Illinois March 28, 1883. He may have lived in Illinois for a few years before going onto South Dakota or returned to Illinois to visit relatives that settled there. ! My grandfather George Henry Paxton born August 13, 1899 in Athol, Spink County, South Dakota was the youngest child of this union. He relocated to Illinois & married Mary Viola Stambaugh July 9, 1923 in Rushville, Illinois. I'm still searching, if anyone has any information concerning this particular Paxton family line please contact me. I am willing to share information. Thanks.

KILBEY - May 29, at the Four Courts Hotel, Inns quay, Annie Maria the dearly-loved wife of Henry G. Kilbey, managing director, Four Courts Hotel Co., Ltd., and grand niece of the late Sir Joseph Paxton, aged 46 years, to the inexpressible grief of her sorrowing husband and children. Funeral will leave for Mount Jerome Cemetery this (Tuesday) morning at 10 o’clock. [31 May 1904, Irish Times, page 1 column A] She wasBorn in England died in Dublin Ireland. Grand niece of: Sir Joseph Paxton (1801-1865) is presumably the celebrated English architect and gardener. My great great grandmother was Harriet Paxton who married Thomas S. Harper, MD. She was the daughter of Samuel Paxton and Rachel Whiteman who married in Rockbridge Co, VA, and moved to Israel Twp, Preble, OH. She was b. about 1816, and died about 1860, after the census was taken. She had 11 children, not all of whom made it to adulthood. After marriage, Thomas and Harriet lived mostly in Greensboro Twp, Henry, IN. One daughter, Talitha E. Harper, married Thomas M. McQuiston as his 3rd wife (of 4) in Preble Co. A son, George W. Harper, 1852-1880, is my great grandfather. He was born in IN and died in KS. Thomas S. Harper subsequently married "Mary C. Paxton," Aug. 6, 1861, and I am currently trying to find out what I can about her. I believe her to have been married to James Paxton, MD, who was also in Greensboro Twp, Henry, IN, at least in 1850. He died in Marion, Grant Co, IN May 1859 (?). The Paxtons and Harpers were neighbors. He was married prior to this to Mary "Polly" Paxton, his first cousin, I have been told. There is an Indiana marriage record of James Paxton to Mary Pickering, Dec. 11, 1846, and this Mary might be the "Mary C. Paxton" above. In 1860 there's a Mary Paxton at the home of John and Phebe Copeland. Is this the "C" in Mary C. Paxton? I dont know. Are Mary Pickering and Mary C. Paxton one and the same? I don't know. Thomas Harper and Mary were enumerated in 1870 and 1880 in Richland Twp, Miami Co., KS. I don't know when they died. They apparently had a son together, Charles S. Harper, 1863-1945. Connie
