I've never received that message, it must mean just to that lady.
Hi, My message was supposed to be a vacation message that is supplied by my server. It has been deleted but apparently keeps popping up. It was supposed to only be sent 1 time to each person who sent me messages while I was away on vacation the month of May. Sorry about the confusion. Guess I'll have to contact my server to find out the problem. Linda

Richard, I have written to Linda to explain this is the nature of a mailing list. It certainly does not mean you cannot post to the Paxton-L! Hi Wanda and list, I'm researching my husband's Paxton family: Everett Obadiah Paxton, b. Apr 1851 in NJ; his son Charles Sidney Paxton, b. Feb 1877 in Marysville, KS; and his son Delmar Berle Paxton, b. 20 Jul 1910 in Oketa, KS. The earliest census I can find for Everett Obadiah Paxton is for 1880 when he appears on the KS census. He was 30 years old at that point. Although he was born in NJ, I haven't been able to find him on a NJ census. I have found an Obadiah Paxton, who was age 57 on the 1850 NJ census, and age 68 on the 1860 NJ (Essex Co.) census. Obadiah is likely a grandfather to Everett, or possibly a great-uncle, but haven't been able to establish a connection. Would like to exchange info with anyone interested in this family. I am needing help with my family. I have posted before but have found out some new things about my family. My family is John Paxton and Frances E (Warden) Paxton. They were married in Boonville, Cooper County, MO in 1862. I have had a difficult time tracing them. They are not in 1870 Cooper County MO Census but did find them in 1880 Cooper County Census. John has deceased or family is separated. 1880 Cooper County MO Census PAXTON Frances 34 MO KY KY William 17 MO KY MO John 15 MO KY MO Lucilla? 10 MO KY MO Mary 8 MO KY MO Rosie 7 MO KY MO Charlie 5 MO KY MO Florence 3 MO KY MO George Washington 6/12 MO KY MO I know that William and John lived in Pettis County Mo in adult years. John died at an early age and William raised John's two sons. In William's obituary it states nothing about him having any other siblings. I have found Florence Paxton in Arkansas and George Washington Paxton in Oklahoma. They both had never talked about their families or where they were from or having any other siblings. This leads me to believe the family was split up after the death or separation of John and Frances. I can not find the burial places of John or Frances either. On William's death certificate it states as his mother being Frances Spears. Maybe she remarried. If anyone can shed some light on this family or have a piece of this puzzle I would deeply appreciate hearing from you. Thanks so much for sharing. LAURA
Laura, Your John who married Frances could be John Singleton Paxton, b. 2 Apr 1837, one of the sons of Singleton Paxton (born 11 Mar1811, Carlisle, Nicholas Co., Kentucky, died 10 May1874, Pilot Grove, Cooper County, Mo., buried Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Pilot Grove) and his first wife, Martha Jane Pettis (1817-1858), who came from Sedalia, Pettis County, Mo. I am descended from John Singleton Paxton's brother, Benjamin Dye Paxton (1840-1906), who moved up to Chariton County, Mo. before moving to Oklahoma. Unfortunately, I have no further information about Benjamin's brother John. Bill Dowell
I've got 420 unread messages in my Inbox, and so I am leaving this message board for awhile. Once again, here is my Paxton genealogy. If anyone would like to contact me, please email me at [email protected] and I'll respond relatively soon (hopefully). I'll probably rejoin the list when things slow down next year. I found 1 Paxton listed in the surname index to a rare old Cherokee genealogy book by Emmett Starr, written in the early 1900's, called "Old Cherokee Families and their Genealogy." There are alot of English surnames in the book, who married into the Cherokee. This surname index to this book, as well as the 1835 Cherokee census, and an on-line Cherokee genealogy tutorial, which shows you how to do Cherokee genealogy research, is at http://members.aol.com/rarebk They have alot of old rare genealogies, and also some exciting old western and civil war books out of print.
